ANNEX 3ter
After reporting, you will receive an annex 3ter. With this annex you will not be entered in the National Register and you will not be domiciled in Belgium. Your principal place of residence will remain abroad.

EU CARD
You will be entered in the National Register, you will be domiciled in Belgium and you will receive an electronic registration document (the EU card).

Register as a non-EU/EEA student
= you have a nationality other than that of a European Union Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland (third-country nationals).

ANNEX 3
If you have a valid type C visa, if you are exempt from the type C visa requirement or if you have a valid residence card of a Schengen member state, you need to apply for a declaration of arrival (annex 3). You will not be domiciled in Belgium.

A CARD
You need to apply for a type D visa with the competent Belgian diplomatic mission prior to your arrival in Belgium. Upon your arrival in Belgium, you need to apply for registration (‘domicile’) with the municipal authorities. You are entered in the National Register and you will receive an A card.

Do you have a visa C, an exemption or a long-term residence permit as a third-country national? Apply for residence as a student via a change of status.

Registration as a mobility student
Are you a third-country national and will you be coming to Ghent as a mobility student for one semester (e.g. within the context of the Erasmus Mundus programme)? In that case you need to register as a mobility student. This way you can arrange for your stay in various European Member States during the period of your studies.
